Crazy for Kraft

Even though we’re already a month into fall, in Charlotte it feels like the season is just getting started. My mom has always said “in North Carolina, you can’t put your summer clothes away until after Halloween” and this year she is right more than ever!

While I do love the regular signs of fall, like pumpkin spice, oversized sweaters, and boots, I particularly love how kraft seems to start popping up everywhere this time of year. Even though it’s just paper, the casualness of it makes it feel so cozy and homey. Kraft makes for such an easy DIY project because you can easily print on it but it makes so much more of a statement than printing on plain white paper!

One of my favorite recent projects made use of kraft paper. These were s’mores takeaway favors for an oyster roast couples shower (even though several were enjoyed at the party and didn’t make it out the door!). These were printed using my own digital hand lettering, but a simple hand lettered kraft tag can be a great way to personalize items for an event as well!

Here are some of my other favorite uses of kraft paper for fall events and weddings!

kraftinvites

invitations | It’s not every day folks open their mailbox to find kraft envelopes so this is a fun way to set the tone for a more casual upcoming event. It looks great printed with black ink but I absolutely love how white really pops against kraft paper as well. White gel pens work great, and these are a favorite of mine! I used them to write the addresses but the names were actually hand painted with Bleed Proof White paint.

place cards | I love the simplicity of the place cards above and they take the place of a napkin ring as well! (PS have you signed up for the monthly newsletter yet? There may be some upcoming Thanksgiving freebies available for download for a similar look!!!)

gift tags | These look pretty fool proof if you have a black pens and some old buttons that aren’t being used. You could even use a stamp for the “Merry Christmas” if you don’t want to use your own handwriting and the end result is nothing short of adorable!

gift wrap | I don’t think there is anything more festive than a gift wrapped in kraft paper, topped with baker’s twine and greenery! Again, this would be a great place to use a holiday stamp if you’re not loving the look of your handwriting on the paper!

I’m so excited for all that this season brings as we head into the crazy holiday madness and I can’t wait to incorporate this style into all of the gatherings between now and the end of the year! What are your favorite ways to use kraft paper??
