One of the things I love about working with clients is getting to connect with new folks, but there is still something so very special about completing projects for someone you know. Every time I package up an order and send it to its new owner, there is the feeling of excitement of getting to have even the smallest presence during their big event occasion but that is only magnified when it’s going to someone I know personally.
My very best friend Holly recently asked me to do some signs for a baby shower that she was throwing for a college friend of hers. Since I probably spent 1 out of 4 weekends visiting Holly and her roommates at Clemson, I jumped at the chance to do some work for such a sweet mama to be!
Holly sent me a picture of the invitation for inspiration and I’m so glad she did, because even though florals are my favorite thing to paint, the colors and designs were a little different than what I typically stick to. I used to always think I was being a pest when I would message sellers on Etsy asking them to do some custom work, but since opening up my own Etsy shop, custom ideas usually end up being my favorite projects. It is easy to get stuck in a rut doing similar projects over and over, but having someone send some inspiration makes me get out of my comfort zone which is MUCH needed from time to time.
I love the coral and berry hues this set incorporated as they contrast the usual blush and pinky tones I typically use and I loved seeing the signs shared on the day of the shower. This also got me looking at some new materials. I found some great stiff watercolor boards at Hobby Lobby that come in large sizes (the large sign here was 16″ x 20″) and they can be framed or stand alone–perfect for party decor!
