Disney World Bag for the Minimalist

It can be overwhelming to think of everything you might need during the day while visiting Disney World Parks. The good news is, you can probably buy just about anything you might need while there. The bad news is it might cost you an arm and a leg.

My first suggestion would be to have something small to keep valuables in while on rides. This could be a fanny pack, cross body bag, or just some good sized pockets. You’ll want to keep your phone, wallet, and tickets safe yet easily accessible the whole day.

Be prepared for any weather. We went in May but it was already in the mid to upper 90’s so a neck fan, hat, and sunglasses were crucial to stay cool. We didn’t have any rain thankfully, but these ponchos are small and packable; I’d throw a few in just in case and that way you don’t end up splurging on ones in the park. I’d also suggest having both a spray sunscreen and a face stick. If you’re there all day, you’ll definitely need to reapply several times. If you’re bringing an infant or small toddler, a portable stroller fan like this one would be a great idea too!

Between taking pictures and frequently accessing the My Disney Experience app, your phone battery will drain quickly. A portable phone charger can keep you from running out. You’d hate to miss out on any photo pops and if you’re using Lightning Lane, a dead phone battery means you won’t be able to reserve your times for rides and attractions.

For some reason, I thought food and drinks wouldn’t be allowed in the park, but you can absolutely bring these things in (and you should!). There are concessions and food everywhere you look, but some small substantive snacks and juice boxes will ensure you’re not going hungry between meals and you have a filling alternative from just Mickey Mouse ice cream bars!

There are water fountains around the park so bringing your own filtered water bottle saves you from spending $3.75 per bottle every time you’re thirsty.

Quick break for a juice box!

If you’re using the Mickey Mouse strollers, I’d suggest bringing a backpack to carry the essentials around all day. There are a few small places to stash items in their strollers but definitely not enough space as most personal strollers have underneath. If you’re bringing your own stroller into the park, you can probably get away with storing all your necessities under the stroller and just having a small crossbody or fanny pack for your valuables as mentioned above.
